1/19/2024 0 Comments Hand of fate ordeals card sleevesOne of the first games I purchased after getting hooked in Summer 2019. This is a game I'll most likely play exclusively solo, but I look forward to playing more. I've only played 1 solo game so far but enjoyed the puzzly aspect of it - especially not shuffling your deck, which I was first hesitant about but can now appreciate its appeal. I wanted a deck-builder that I could play solo without too much upkeep and fiddliness (more on that later). However I have seen that there's a fan-made print & play that adds loads of deductive cases, which looks interesting, so when I have the time (and patience) I may give that a go, and use 2 dice for movement! Plus only 1 dice to move from place to place?! You'd spend most of your turns just trying to move around the board, doing nothing interesting. Safe to say I did awfully in that first game, and didn't really have a desire to play after that. I got this for Christmas a few years back, played it and loved the first play.until I realised that the cases weren't to be solved literally and the flavour text didn't actually tell a story that you were meant to pick apart.and that it was all just a glorified word puzzle. With that being said, here are the games I currently own in alphabetical order:Ģ21B Baker Street: The Master Detective Game My parents have a much bigger kitchen table and I often play with them, but if I'm going to have a game in my collection, I want to be able to play it in my own house! The table is about 1m x 0.6m in dimensions, so I've been very hesitant to purchase any games that require a lot of table space, even though I've been tempted many times. Since there was barely any room for a kitchen table, I had to build our own table that fastens to the wall, so that it didn't eat up into the room too much. We're hoping to find somewhere new soon but for now we've had to adapt to the space. I'm also a bit of a sucker for lists, so at the bottom I'll order them in order of my current preference.īefore I start, to give a bit of background, I currently live with my partner in a small one bedroom place. In this first post I'll discuss the games in my collection and my thoughts on them. My collection is very small and I plan for it to stay that way - I don't have a lot of room for many games and prefer the idea of swapping out games I don't play very often for new games that I want, so that I have a manageable collection of games I consistently get to the table. There's something about board gaming that calms, comforts and excites me all at the same time, so I'm often watching let's plays, video reviews, top ten lists and listening to podcasts from day to day. I've always had a fondness for board gaming, having played games such as Ticket To Ride, Pandemic and having a slight obsession with Talisman a few years back, but it wasn't until Summer 2019 when I properly got into it, and realised the scope and diversity available within the hobby (something I think many people are unaware of). If you're reading this, welcome to my first blog post - and thanks for stopping by!
